The last few nights, we have had a little male house sparrow roosting in the eaves on our porch. He is seemingly all right, chasing away a few other sparrows that tried to join him and disappearing during the day. When I turn on the porch light he doesn't seem to mind, and stayed put for me to take this cute photo.
Adorable.. Nice photo. It almost looks like he is sitting in snow.. :)
ReplyDeleteNice sparrow, are they indigenous or a UK/european import? -we used to get loads of them in the garden but for some unexplained reason their numbers have crashed, now we get only one or two a year - very sad - I really like their cheeky antics and nonstop chatter.

The European house sparrow is indeed a non-native, introduced species here. There are amazingly prolific, and its odd to realize they've experienced major declines in much of their native habitat!
